The Allman Brothers Band - Live From A&R Studios, New York, August 26, 1971 FLAC album

Live from A&R Studios is an album by the Allman Brothers Band. It was recorded on August 26, 1971, at A&R Studios in New York City for a live radio broadcast. It was released on April 1, 2016.

A&R Studios: New York, 26th August 1971 ‎(2xLP, Album, Unofficial, Gat). The Allman Brothers Band. A&R Studios FM Broadcast. New York, August 26th, 1971 ‎(2xLP, Album).

As a result, the Allman Brothers Band was inclined to pour it on here and for close to seventy minutes they did. And never more potently (or expansively) than on the longest track here: at nineteen and a half minutes including a heartfelt verbal homage to King Curtis from "Skydog," (so nicknamed by Wilson Pickett) with whom he had played many a studio session and who had been killed just a couple weeks prior to this occasion, "You Don't Love Me" contains not only. Containing the core of the ABB repertoire of the time-"Trouble No More " and "One Way Out" are both here in compact renditions-but missing those warhorses that could become epics (It's not just "Whipping Post" that's missing," but "Mountain Jam" as well), Live from A&R Studios New York August 26 1971 cannot supplant At Fillmore.

On August 26, 1971, the Allman Brothers Band went into the A&R Studios in New York in front of an intimate audience of roughly 200 people, and which was also broadcast to thousands more through New York FM radio WPLJ. Although widely circulated as a bootleg, the performance was officially released last week via Peach Records. Listen to Live from A&R Studios above, via this site. The lineup for this performance included the original Allman Brothers Band: organist-singer Gregg Allman, guitarists Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, bassist Berry Oakley, and drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe (Jai.

As those who already own this heavily bootlegged concert, recorded in front of a small audience at the titular studio can attest, the sextet was on fire this evening.

This is a new addition to my second tier, a live radio broadcast documenting a rare sweet spot in musical history. The Allmans had just come off of their legendary Fillmore East album and were invited to play at the 100 seater A&R Studios in late August 1971 for radio broadcast, and at this point in their career they were at their very peak. Like a lot of improvisation-heavy bands, The Allmans managed a very long career with a lot of changing line ups until their recent retirement with a lot of good players

This sounds great on vinyl. I grabbed mine about a week or two after Greg passed. This sounds great. My vinyl has what looks like small pits in the grooves, but it plays great. Strange.
