Dan Auerbach - Waiting On A Song FLAC album
Prolific producer and Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach is one of those artists whose music always manages to sound fresh yet comfortingly familiar. His second solo album sounds like a lost gem from the ‘70s, mixing California folk-pop ( Waiting on a Song ), soul lite ( Malibu Man, King of a One Horse Town ), and a touch of psychedelia ( Cherrybomb ) for a breezy, kaleidoscopic listen that’s perfect for summer. On Waiting on a Song, though, these twin tendencies often make Auerbach seems like someone trying to playact his way back to the club of ’70s Nashville street cred. It’s hard to hear a dude who’s won nine Grammys sing lines like could’ve made it but I messed around/ I’m a loser with a rusty crown (or watch him release an album on 8-track in 2017) and properly suspend your disbelief. Although it features a few radio-ready summer moments, Waiting on a Song never quite rises to the heights reached by its famous collaborators or canon-approved inspirations. However, this initial release isn’t one of them; instead, it’s an okay album that will please fans when the weather’s warm while also making them look forward to the day when Auerbach reconnects to his own roots instead of someone else’s. Essential Tracks: Shine on Me, King of a One Horse Town, and Malibu Man.
Waiting on a Song by Dan Auerbach Album : Waiting on a Song Released : 2017. I been thinking and been hummin’ I been pickin and I been strumming Just waiting, waiting on a song I been hitching and I been thumbin’ I can almost hear one coming I’m just waiting, waiting on a song. I looked down in my pocket Underneath the bed Walked under the lamp post And one hit me on the head. Am I blind or too dumb to see All the sound surrounding me? I’m just waiting, waiting on a song
Dan Auerbach seems unusually giddy on his second solo album. Of course any artist in his position-one-half of a marquee band, known as one of today’s producers of choice and a nine-time GRAMMY winner to boot-ought to have reason for celebration regardless. It is, in a sense, his love letter to Nashville and the artists that he’s worshipped from afar
Download: Waiting On A Song; Malibu Man; Shine On Me. The range of Dan Auerbach’s production interests – from Dr John to Lana Del Rey – indicates the breadth of The Black Keys’ frontman’s musical interests, to which this second solo album adds a further few wrinkles. Faced with the usual second-album song drought, Benjamin Booker last year moved temporarily to Mexico City to recharge his creative batteries. But he came to realise that he was actually trying to escape the endemic racism of his homeland. It’s this epiphany that drives Witness, an attempt to fulfil James Baldwin’s invocation to faithfully represent one’s existence.
