The following March Love Hangover is released as a single from the new album by Diana Ross. The producer Hal Davis hears a demo of the song, and quickly records it with Diana in December 1975 in an eight-minute version aimed at the dance floor. Love Hangover rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late May, and also occupies the summit of the dance/disco and R&B charts. Eventually in 1983 the two-hour Motown 25 special is staged and recorded by Motown Productions before an audience at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on March 25, for later broadcast by NBC-TV.
