These spare jigs and reels have the feeling of music played in an Irish hall rather than a pub: they are somewhat staid, but lovely nonetheless. The mix of solo and group pieces is pleasing, but there seems to be a more academic approach to the recording, making it a bit too restrained.

Irish Traditional Fiddle Music: Reels, Jigs & Polkas, Cieli Band Music. This CD was recorded in 1991 at the "Fiddlesticks Festival" organized by the Traditional Music Society of University College Cork, and includes well known fiddle players within Ireland, such as the legendary Tommy Peoples. There is also the lovely Mairead ni Mhaonaigh and Ciaran Tourish of Altan contributing several tracks.
