Her new record Changing Light covers a lot of earthly ground, from animals to nature and seasons. Hailed as a breakup album, Light deals with being in transition on deep levels, confronting mortality in fascinating ways. The visceral storytelling evident on all of these tracks is especially lucid on the graphic and almost disturbing Goat Shepherd, and Mirah practically becomes one with her earthly natural surroundings on I am the Garden. Her voice is as ethereal and rich as ever, so much so that she still makes her impressive range seem easy after all this time.
Changing Light reflects a marked sonic shift from polish to grit. I will go to the desert," Mirah sings on opening track "Goat Shepherd", and the arid invocation lingers even through the verdant ballads. In theme and sound, this is a relatively stripped down music of desperation and exile. Gouged with desert rock tropes, the album inverts (a)spera’s blue-hued fluidity, built instead on a rugged bedrock of shadowy black and scorched orange timbres. But the synth-tom rolls buried deep in the mix, like someone falling down a staircase inside herself, remind us that a quiet catastrophe is underway.
MIRAH - CHANGING LIGHT Out May 13, 2014 on Absolute Magnitude Recordings. com/changing-light Visit ww. com for tour dates and more! On her fifth solo album, Mirah breaks it down and builds it back up again with the street smarts that only years behind the wheel of love can inspire. Ready with the maps and driven to the rhythms on the radio dial, Changing Light’s ten songs carry us from heartbreak to wholeness and all the places in between. Uprooted from her home after a scorching break-up, Mirah spent four years rambling and recording.

What's the use of holding out A work sore hand to catch some rain It turns up empty, all is dry And all you ever wanted was some rain Was some rain. If heaven is the future Why is it that that you refuse to go There now with all you have You really should do more than just complain Just complain. Where's the light to shine on me Oh, send me something, send me please Cleanse my body, close my eyes I'm naked and prepared to die In the starry atmosphere When all the questions disappear And pressure with a salty taste Exalts the tears that soak your face. Genre: Singer-Songwriter. Let me start by admitting that I am very fond of Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn's music. Owning all her previous releases became a very important project a few years back when I discovered her recordings. With 'Changing Light' I am not necessarily displeased with this new CD, but, feel she might have expanded her artistic sensibilities a bit further.
