Rufus featuring Chaka Khan is the gold-selling fourth studio album by funk band Rufus (and their second album with singer Chaka Khan), released on the ABC Records label in 1975. It remained atop the R&B album chart for six consecutive weeks. By 1975, Rufus and lead front woman Chaka Khan had become one of the most popular bands in popular music.

Street Player" is no where near where Rufus was with their last 4 albums, but you can still find songs to love here. Songs like "Stay", "Best Of Your Heart" and the title track holds the album down firmly, even though it's not in the class of their classic stuff. I also blame this on the fact that Chaka Khan started a solo career (don't blame her though), and key players in the group changing. Oh, well, even though not complete, it's still ok. Album · 1977 · 10 Songs. By the time Street Player was released in July 1978, the disco era was in full swing and Rufus was poised to take full advantage. They hired the Gap Band’s drummer Moon Calhoun to provide the nimble-footed dance floor beats so beloved by the era’s audiences. Guitarist Tony Maiden takes a turn on lead vocals for the album’s two disco-charged jams, Street Player and Change Your Ways. Rufus was expert at mustering propulsive dance rhythms, but Street Player is notable for its jazz underpinnings

This album spawned a Top Five Billboard R&B hit with "Stay," a song with a moderate tempo and a very humble beginning that bows to an explosive plea from Khan. It reached number three on the charts after 18 weeks. Blue Love" has that seesaw rhythm that swings from midtempo to uptempo but is controlled by Khan's delivery.
