The Skull Defekts - Static In The Air FLAC album
Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown.
The Skull Defekts is a two-headed beast from Sweden. One for hypnotic rock and one for experimental electronics. The band has been compared to Can, Wolf Eyes, Wire, Shellac and beyond. Formed by Henrik Rylander and Joachim Nordwall in early 2005 when Nordwall's band Kid Commando decided to end their eight-year career as knights of the sweatiest avant rock existing.
The band: NO CURRENT MEMBERS. OPERATIONS COMPLETE ON APRIL 7th 2018.
Perfil: Swedish avant/hypnotic rock & experimental/noise group, active from 2005 to 2018.
The Skull Defekts did a few albums, a bunch of singles and tapes and toured Europe, China and finally the US in 2008 where we met up with Daniel Higgs in Baltimore. I had met him at All Tomorrow’s Parties a few years back and Fagge once swapped shoes with him in Spain. He joined us on stage the next night at The Black Cat in Washington DC. Higgs was a member of the band before any of us even knew it. It felt so natural to play together that we decided that the five of us should make the next Skull Defekts album

A bleak air of finality hangs heavy on the Skull Defekts' self-titled fifth album. Following their 2014 release Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown, things shifted dramatically for the band, with frequent collaborator Daniel Higgs and longtime band member Jean-Louis Huhta both stepping away from the project. Skull Defekts founder Joachim Nordwall stated he knew the band was finished the first day he stepped into the studio to begin work on what would become this album, but also knew there was a final chapter to the group's story he had to write.

Lately, Higgs has returned to more rocking territory as a frequent guest vocalist for the Swedish group the Skull Defekts, and Dances in the Dreams of the Known Unknown is Higgs’ third album with the band. On previous releases such as 2011’s Peer Amid, the collaboration has yielded hypnotic wonders and grueling drone-gluts alike. The roar is gone, and it’s missed, since Higgs barely registers on Dreams at all. He's not featured on the much of the album, and that will be a drawback for almost anyone who engages with the album while hoping to engage with Higgs. Granted, the Skull Defekts make fine music on their own, but they sound more alluring and entrancing when their wagon is hitched to Higgs.
