The discography of Bauhaus, a British gothic rock band, consists of five studio albums, four live albums, three compilation albums, four extended plays (EPs), eleven singles and three video albums. The band was formed in Northampton in 1978 by Daniel Ash (guitar), David J (bass), Kevin Haskins (drums) and Peter Murphy (vocals). Released in August 1979 on Small Wonder Records, Bauhaus's debut single-the nine-minute-long "Bela Lugosi's Dead"-failed to make the UK Singles Chart

Months after its formation, the band then known as Bauhaus 1919 inadvertently recorded eight tracks that would make up Live in the Studio 1979. Predating their debut studio album, the songs during this 25-minute rehearsal were performed live in one take with no overdubs, after the band had finished their official recording duties. The recording of this session was. distributed in 1997 by Nemo Records (Beggars Banquet), included with the Andrew Brooksbank book Bauhaus: Beneath The Mask Author Dave Thompson call.

Tracks are live studio recordings from 1979, restored from cassette tape.

The other Bauhaus disc, Live in the Studio 1979, is far more rare: It’s the out-of-print companion disc included with the 1997 hardback book Bauhaus: Beneath the Mask, an official history of the band. The CD features eight songs performed live in the studio in mid-1979, six months before the release of the band ‘s debut single, Dark Entries.
