Detroit rapper/producer Black Milk is set to release his new project, The Rebellion Sessions, this April. It's a jazzy live instrumental album showcasing his band Nat Turner (with whom he's been touring for many years), produced in full by Black Milk himself and recorded in just one week in Dallas. To accompany the announcement, the "What It's Worth" rapper is sharing "The Rebels," a very chill non-album track featuring Black Milk rapping over Nat Turner's summertime-worthy vibes
Their joint release, The Rebellion Sessions, is due April 4 through Black Milk's Computer Ugly imprint. The set marks the first full-length release from Black Milk since 2014's If There's a Hell Below, which Nat Turner helped the rapper support on tour. This new LP includes 10 collaborative tracks captured during a week-long recording session in Dallas. Speaking with Fader, Black Milk noted that the album is intentionally sparse, with arrangements often kept to the close-knit unit of drummer Z, bassist Malik Hunter and Aaron "Ab" Abernathy on the Fender Rhodes. The project is being teased with a stream of a non-album B-side called "The Rebel. You'll find the cut below, along with the tracklisting for The Rebellion Sessions and some info on Black Milk's upcoming round of tour dates with Slum Village. The trip includes a stop in Victoria, BC, at the end of the month. The Rebellion Sessions

The LP runs at almost an EP's length and some cuts are cut short when they should have run longer, but The Rebellion Sessions can make any day funkier and more flared, so file this next to Oddisee's equally soulful The Odd Tape and consider 2016 the best 1974 since 1974 itself.
As opposed to the usual Friday release date, Black Milk and Nat Turner have released their new album The Rebellion Sessions today.
