Lower Than Atlantis is the fourth studio album by British rock band Lower Than Atlantis. With the release of Changing Tune (2012), the band moved to an arena rock-orientated sound. Following the touring cycle for Changing Tune, Island Records gave the band an ultimatum. The result of which ended with the band taking a label advance and building their own recording studio in Watford in July 2013

In truth, Lower Than Atlantis have have come quite a way since their post-hardcore beginnings, starting with the release of 2012’s ‘Changing Tune’. The band have swapped raw recording for polished production, personal lyrics for blanket statements and replaced their hard-rock edge with a more mainstream appeal. But, although the decision may have won them wider recognition, it hasn’t really done much for the evolution of their sound. Even when ‘Safe In Sound’ does differ from its predecessor, it’s only because of its lack of epic arena-fillers. Sure, Work For It and A Night To Forget have a go with their upbeat tempos and singalong choruses, but there’s nothing here that’s on the scale of Criminal or English Kids in America. Granted, bigger doesn’t always mean better, but in this case it might have been. Lower Than Atlantis Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
Album : Safe And Sound Genres: Rock, Alternative Release: 2017. Speaking of the record in a press release, the band’s frontman Mike Duce has said: Everything we achieved with the self titled completely surpassed our expectations and now it’s time to make an album that can really take us to the next level
Safe in Sound is a sadly apt title. It indicates Lower Than Atlantis’ decision to play it safe and continue on their path towards the mainstream, which is disappointing, seeming as they used to have some semblance of personality; now they could be anyone. According to frontman Mike Duce, Safe In Sound contains "some bangin’ LTA songs, some rock bangers, and some stuff he’d written with boybands in mind. He was wrong: there are no bangers here. Furthermore, boybands excel at making unashamedly fun music: Lower than Atlantis don’t.

In 2014, Lower Than Atlantis’s self-titled fourth album finessed their emotive grunge-rock into stadium-ready anthems. They return to that territory here, especially with the limber groove and big choruses of opener Had Enough. However, Boomerang also echoes the artful, digitized pop of The 1975 before Could Be Worse confidently merges aggression with invention. I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore, meanwhile, is a skilful fusion of raw emotion and orchestral grandeur–the sound of band investigating rock’s possibilities.
Lower Than Atlantis was an English rock band from Watford, Hertfordshire. They formed in 2007 as a hardcore punk band and gradually shifted into a melodic rock sound over five studio albums, their last being 2017's Safe in Sound. The band consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Mike Duce, bassist Declan Hart, drummer Eddy Thrower, and lead guitarist Ben Sansom. They announced in December 2018 that they would be disbanding after a final 3 tour dates in 2019.
