Robinson Crusoe (/ˈkruːsoʊ/) is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published on 25 April 1719.

Album The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (Chap. Builds a house-the journal. I, poor miserable Robinson Crusoe, being shipwrecked during a dreadful storm in the offing, came on shore on this dismal, unfortunate island, which I called The Island of Despair ; all the rest of the ship’s company being drowned, and myself almost dead. All the rest of the day I spent in afflicting myself at the dismal circumstances I was brought to-viz.

My father was German, but he came to live and work in England. Soon after that, he married my mother, who was English. Her family name was Robinson, so, when I was born, they called me Robinson, after her. My father did well in his business and I went to a good school. He wanted me to get a good job and live a quiet, comfortable life.

Robinson Crusoe, as a young and impulsive wanderer, defied his parents and went to sea. He was involved in a series of violent storms at sea and was warned by the captain that he should not be a seafaring man. Ashamed to go home, Crusoe boarded another ship and returned from a successful trip to Africa. Taking off again, Crusoe met with bad luck and was taken prisoner in Sallee. His captors sent Crusoe out to fish, and he used this to his advantage and escaped, along with a slave. He was rescued by a Portuguese ship and started a new adventure
