Richard Rock (born 10 October 1936) known as Dickie Rock is an Irish singer. He experienced much success on the Irish charts during the 1960s, but has continued on as a popular live act as well as occasionally hitting the charts ever since. Rock was born in the North Strand, Dublin and raised in Cabra on Dublin's Northside. Between 1963 and 1972, he was one of the frontmen of the Miami Showband (who were later in the headlines due to the Miami Showband killings incident).

With his thin frame and jug ears, Rock seemed the antithesis of the hunky showband pop star as personified by the Royal Showband’s Brendan Bowyer. During 1964, he catapulted to the top of Eire’s charts three times with ‘There’s Always Me’, ‘I’m Yours’ and ‘From The Candy Store On The Corner’. A further array of hits followed in 1965, including two more number 1s: ‘Every Step Of The Way’ and ‘Wishing It Was You’

That’s why I have to keep working. I’ll be singing till the day I die but it helps that my background in Cabra West gave me a strong work ethic. Keen to cut costs, Dickie said this is why his latest album Cycles, hailed as one of the best of his career, will be his last. It features stand-out track Stardust, penned by pal Shay Healy.
