The name Orplid refers to the poem "Gesang Weylas of the German romantic Eduard Mörike. It describes a paradise beyond the Sea, an untouched, pure world, where the sensitive soul finds home.

All along, Orplid have showcased a unique mixture of romantic folklore with neo-classical elements and German poetry. While acoustic Neofolk may have been the strongest influence on their music in the early days of their career, samples and electronic elements have always found their way into the duo's compositions.
