The discography of Weather Report, an influential American jazz band with a career lasting sixteen years between 1970 and 1986, consists of fourteen studio albums, three live albums, eleven compilation albums, five singles, one B-side, and six video albums. Weather Report's self-titled debut album Weather Report, released in 1971, caused a sensation in the jazz world and is still considered a classic of early fusion. It was awarded Album of the Year by Down Beat magazine’s polls that year.

Heavy Weather is the eighth album by Weather Report, released in 1977 through Columbia Records. The release originally sold about 500,000 copies; it would prove to be the band's most commercially successful album.

A previous Weather Report compilation, This Is Jazz, Vol. 10, reaches back farther, giving listeners "The Moors" and "Orange Lady. While this one is a bit narrower historically, it still serves as a good introduction to an incredible band. That said, a volume of post-1980 material may not be a bad idea.

Weather Report is one of the most important and significant bands in Jazz music. The band's permanent members were keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter both of whom had previously worked with Miles Davis. Between 1971 and 1986, Zawinul and Shorter employed a revolving door of bass players, drummers and percussionists thoughout their band's exsistance
