Ouverture-Suite G-Dur La Bizarre, TWV 55:G2. 22. I. Ouverture Georg Philipp Telemann; Jordi Savall; Le Concert des Nations. Harp Concertos: Ginastera - Debussy - Boieldieu Anaïs Gaudemard; Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen Normandie; Leo Hussain. Shostakovich: Cello Concertos Nos.

Rebel had been court composer to Louis XIV, and his ballet Les Élémens was his most audacious work, offering many novelties that appear to a less pronounced degree in Les Caractères de la danse, La Terpsichore, and Les plaisirs champêtre. Telemann was a younger contemporary of Rebel and a friend of Bach and Handel, and his wide-ranging suites, also called Ouvertures, reflect his absorption of many influences, both French and German, as well as innovations from Italy. Première sicilienne: Rondeau 06. 2e Rondeau 07. L'angloise: Gigue (Gay) Les Caractères de la Danse 08. Prélude 09. Courante 10.

Bartok, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Stravinsky & others: 20th Century Orchestral Classics.

The Rebel first, and his ballet suite, La Terpsichore opens the disc with plenty of energy, imaginative harpsichord embellishments (Marco Vitale), immensely graceful strings and ravishing flute (Marc Hantaï, Yi-Fen Chen) playing especially in the delicious Siciliennes and Rondeaus. Composer: Jean-Féry Rebel & Georg Philipp Telemann Composition: Ballet Suites and Overtures Performer: Les Concert des Nations/Jordi Savall Catalogue Number: Alia Vox AVSA9929 (SACD).

Concerto en sol mineur pour Orgue et Orchestre, Op. 4 No. 1: I. Larghetto e staccato Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Ernest Ansermet. Bach: Concerto pour clavecin, flûte, violon et cordes en la mineur, BWV 1044 - Allegro Silvia Kind, Georg Friedrich Hendel, Kurt Cromm, Orchestre De La Sarre, Karl Ristenpart. Courante en sol mineur, suite No. 6 Racha Arodaky.

Terpsichore, the Greek goddess of dance and chorus. How appropriate that her delight in dancing should be honored in Terpsichore: Apotheóse de la Danse baroque (Alia Vox), the latest beautifully produced and packaged Alia Vox SACD from Jordi Savall and his baroque orchestra, Le Concert des Nations. Rebel's La Terpsichore (1720), Les Caractères de la Danse (1715), Les plaisirs champêtres (1724), and Fantasie (1729) are the big finds here. 2, Savall's baroque orchestra of 22 players fills the space with some of the most delightful and graceful court music you may ever wish to hear. Prepared to be wowed by the concluding "Furioso" movement of Telemann's Ouverture-Suite in B (1733) from Tafelmusik, Part III, N. for two oboes, two solo violins, two violins, viola and basso continuo.
