In 1999 the band recorded The Days of Our Nights for Elektra, but the label declined the album as "not commercially viable" and dropped the band. The record was ultimately released on Jericho Records in the US. Prior to the album's release, Justin Harwood left the band, and was replaced by Britta Phillips. In 2017, Luna announced two new releases, a Luna covers LP, A Sentimental Education, and a 6-song original instrumental EP, A Place Of Greater Safety, with a tour of Spain in October and a North American tour in November 2017.

Lunapark was the debut album by indie rock band Luna. It was released in 1992 on Elektra Records. As the first musical outing of Dean Wareham since the disbanding of Galaxie 500, Lunapark set forth the new musical directions of Wareham and embraced a musical sound that would continue to evolve throughout Luna's tenure.

The album was recorded as Luna's fifth LP for Elektra Records, a part of the Warner Bros. Records music family. Because of the major label consolidations that occurred in the late 1990s, many alternative rock bands signed to major labels were dropped in this time period, including Luna. In an ironic twist, the album was picked up by Jericho records, a subsidiary of Sire Records, which is also part of the Warner Bros. It would, however, prove to be the final album by the band to receive major-label distribution.
