The creation of Jerry Williams, J. an R&B producer and songwriter of the '60s, Swamp Dogg fit no tidy category. A native of Virginia, Williams began his career recording under the name Little Jerry, releasing a jump blues single called "HTD Blues" in 1954 when he was just 12 years old.
Jerry Williams Jr. (born July 14 1942 in Portsmouth, Virginia), is a soul music artist and songwriter who is better known by his pseudonym Swamp Dogg. Williams made his first recording in 1954 under the moniker "Little Jerry". In 1963 he changed that to "Little Jerry Williams". In 1970 he took the persona of "Swamp Dogg" and released his first album "Total Destruction To Your Mind". He is also noted as a songwriter and producer, especially producing country music.
