Back in 1988, when Mikey D first signed to Sleeping Bag records, and before the first single "Out Of Control" dropped, he was on the radio, the Wildman Steve show if my memory serves me correct. That night he announced his recent signing, and Steve played Mikey D's tape of "Out Of Control" and "Party Time". I was lucky enough to tape it, and I still have that tape, although it's been years since I have listened to it. I included the track "Party Time" on my "Classic MC-izms" CD's 10 years ago. I would have included "Out Of Control" but the demo was the same as the track on vinyl. This means they did indeed record "Party Time" in 1988 at the latest. The first time I heard "Taking No Shorts" was when this record dropped. I'm pretty sure if sleeping bag would have dropped a second single, it would have been in 1989, since the first one dropped around October or so, so it is possible that "Taking No Shorts" was recorded in 1989, but I would bet it was sometime in 1988 as well. Mad props for being able to finally drop this on wax, and it sounds as if the master tapes were preserved well! Definately recommended!
