Richard Barbieri brings so much to every project that he collaborates on- and that is quite a large body of work indeed. His work is more like painting with sound than playing a song. Barbieri's work with his current band, Porcupine Tree is essential to their unique sound- yet, like the underpainting in a masterpiece, his contributions are supportive and enhancing without being overt. However, as a solo artist Barbieri is not beholden to anyone else's vision or aesthetic. Stranger Inside, Barbieri's second solo offering is a canvas of his own design

Richard Barbrieri, keyboardist of Porcupine Tree and Japan, returns with his second solo album, Stranger Inside. Throughout his 30+ year career, he has crafted a reputation that sets him apart from others in the genre. He doesn’t play incredibly fast and virtuosic like the Jordan Rudesses of the world, but instead Mr. Barbrieri creates ambient soundscapes that are unrivaled in the progressive rock genre.
