Conway Twitty (1 September 1933 – 5 June 1993), born Harold Lloyd Jenkins, was one of the United States' most successful artists of the 20th century. Twitty had the most singles (55) reach Number 1 on various national music charts. Conway Twitty's across the board totals were greater than that of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, and Garth Brooks.
However, because I like Conway Twitty’s beautiful power ballad Goodbye Time so well, I decided to make an exception – I purchased the MP3 version of Conway Twitty Greatest Hits Vol. 3, solely because it includes this song among its 10 tracks. I’ve always enjoyed the singing of Conway Twitty. His rich baritone voice, with its distinctive country twang, graced the radio airwaves from the 1960s through the early 1990s. He was affectionately known as the High Priest of Country Music. Greatest Hits Vol. 3 was released in 1990 – only three years before his sudden and untimely death at age 59. This album contains a mixed bag of songs, some of them very good, and others not quite so enjoyable. Goodbye Time is clearly the standout tune, followed closely by That’s My Job and The House on Old Lonesome Road.
