The B-52's - cosmic thing FLAC album

Cosmic Thing" was the band's sixth studio album, released on June 27, 1989  . Авторы текста и музыки. Keith Strickland, Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson.

Cosmic Thing is the fifth studio album by American new wave band the B-52's, released in 1989. It contains the singles "Love Shack" and "Roam". The success of the album served as a comeback after the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson in 1985. Six of the album's songs were produced by Nile Rodgers in New York City, and the remaining four by Don Was in upstate New York. The band embarked on the Cosmic Tour to promote the album.

Granted, the album was completed in the wake of Ricky Wilson's death, but the group appeared bereft of new musical ideas and were sounding rather stale. In other words, the last thing anyone expected was a first-class return to form, which is what they got with Cosmic Thing. Working with producers Don Was and Nile Rodgers, the B-52's updated their sound with shiny new surfaces and deep, funky grooves - it was the same basic pattern as before, only refurbished and contemporized

The 1989 long-player was a big success at the time, spawning the transatlantic top five hit ‘Love Shack’ and ‘Roam’ (also top five in the USA). Cosmic Thing will be reissued on 28 June 2019.

At heart, Cosmic Thing is a dance-your-ass-off soiree. Leader Fred Schneider delights in kitsch, his deliveries combining goofy pronouncements and half-rapped words that speak the co-ed ensemble's long tradition of originality, flair, campiness, and irreverence. Better still is the band's embrace of a shinier, funkier sound established by producers Don Was and Nile Rodgers. The B-52’s spent the last part of the ‘70s and the first half of the ‘80s as one of the coolest, goofiest groups around, forging a solid reputation as a fun-time party band through such singles as Rock Lobster, Private Idaho, and so on down the line, but with the death of founding member Ricky Wilson in 1985

Once The B-52's released their underrated fourth LP Bouncing Off The Satellites in the wake of the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson, the impact of losing such a key member on the frontlines of the AIDS epidemic made it difficult to think about recording new music. For a moment, "She Brakes For Rainbows" seemed like the last song we'd ever hear from the Athens, GA new wave heroes. The music he brought us for Cosmic, we thought, was brilliant and inspiring. There was some trepidation about doing another record, but once we heard the music and got to jamming, everything fell into place really quickly. Pierson also moved to Woodstock, though she now lives in nearby Phoenicia, where she runs the Lazy Meadow resort motel with her wife Monica.

Roam was the fourth single from the B-52’s 1989 hit album, Cosmic Thing. Roam hit on the Billboard hot 100 singles chart during March 1990. Who is the girl with the blonde hair in the video clip. If you mean the one in black with the really long hair slung over her shoulder and the gold necklace, that is singer Cindy Wilson, one of the band’s original members and the sister to founding member and guitarist Ricky Wilson. Sadly, Ricky died of complications from AIDS in 1985, but the band has said his influence is all over this album, including in the song Deadbeat Club.
